Mark T Smith’s artwork entitled “Chariot of Apollo” was selected to be part of the permanent collection at the Lighthouse ArtCenter in Jupiter, FL. This piece was selected to be part of a digital exhibition, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The artwork was originally commissioned by a Florida-based couple for their home in Jupiter and this work is one of the largest pieces that the artist has ever created. The work tells the story of the Greek god, Apollo’s son untimely death at the hands of Zeus. The painting is layered with imagery and allegory.
This piece was created in 2009/10 and was one of the two largest pieces that the artist has created over the course of his career.
