The Demolition Dart – from our cross country epic in 2000/2001. The best way to see the USA is in a convertible! Philadelphia to Santa Barbara back across to the panhandle of Florida and then back up the East coast – what an adventure! The total mileage – 8,200. The car is a modified 1966 Dodge Dart with a boneyard 360/5.9l V8 and a 4 speed overdrive transmission, 4 wheel disk brakes and a highly tuned suspension. My good buddy Dave Wilby, aka “Mopar Dave” was the owner of the car and this trip was the second time this car had made the trip across the United States of America.
The car was mechanically sound, although serious nature of the rust on the body/frame would insure that this trip would be the Demolition Dart’s final voyage. At least the car made the pages of Hot Rod Magazine twice! This road trip was quite simply the best road trip I have ever been on and set the stage for a myriad of other trips in a long list of other cars across this country.
