This commission was for the Military Officers of America Magazine. The subject matter was chronic pain. The idea was to layer this image with content – The figure represents the person experiencing the chronic pain. The figure is entwined with the caduceus. (representing the medical arts). The figure is shot full of arrows, some large and some small to represent the random nature of the pains, the figure also has a dotted “removal” contour around the right arm – to represent phantom limbs and finally the whole figure is contained by a medicine pill bottle.
A special thank you to Candice Taylor for commissioning the artwork and to Richard Solomon.
